About Karch Auto

Located at 827 S Atherton St, State College, PA 16801, Karch Auto operates as an auto repair shop serving State College in Pennsylvania. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as auto body shop, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

In State College, shops are busiest on Monday mornings and before holiday weekends, so a mid-week appointment gets a car seen faster. Labor rates across Pennsylvania vary by neighborhood and by shop type, from small independents to dealership service bays, and mobile mechanics now cover many routine jobs in the driveway. Before authorizing a repair, ask for the estimate in writing, whether the shop warranties parts and labor (12 months / 12,000 miles is common, some offer more), and whether it can provide a loaner or a shuttle. Check the listing for hours, the makes the shop works on and its Google rating, then call ahead, since walk-in capacity is limited at smaller shops.

The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. Typical hours are 7:45 am–5:15 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Karch Auto at (814) 238-2886; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is karchauto.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Its Google rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 249 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

State College is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and State College follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

We had Karch do preventative maintenence on our 2010 Honda Fit by replacing the spark plugs and adjusting the valves. The engine runs more smoothly now with less metallic tapping noise after the valve adjustment. The engine has more pep too, which is great. I called in advance, they ordered everything before I brought it in, and they got it all done in a morning. Very satisfied.

I recently had a popped tire on I-99 and my auto insurance wouldn’t even get me help for 2+ hours so I took matters into my own hands and called Walk’s Towing. They were able to get there within 30 minutes and tow my truck to Karch Auto. They replaced both of my back tires, aligned them and checked the sensors for me and had amazing communication throughout all of it. I will definitely be using them again in the future! They got my truck done in a timely manner and everything has been working great. They’re also very friendly and have good customer service.

I got an appointment at 1 pm for an oil change and a quick suspension check up. The guy at the front desk said it would take about 45 minutes. I showed up at 4 pm and my car still wasn’t ready to go. I assume this company offers high quality service for their customers, but I’m not willing to confirm that theory. Time is the only resource that won’t come back to us and I felt disrespected for the treatment I got at this place.

Poor customer service, excuse after excuse as to why my car wasn’t done and new expected dates of completion. I had to keep checking with them about completion dates as I was using a rental and they kept stalling the date week after week, finally I started getting random and vague updates weekIy about current status, I got my car back two months after collision incident and the body looks great but now my horn isn’t working and it’s out of inspection. I can understand back orders, or waiting on delivery but be up front and explain cause of delays. They offered a free inspection, something that prob could have been done in the two+ months that my car was sitting around at their shop. I’ve never had to deal with such unprofessional behavior and inefficient business practices. Do not recommend. Edit to reiterate after their response. I asked for rough time frames as I’m understanding of the facts they pointed out, and was given a hard time to expect completion. Tired of excuses and poor customer service. I’ve heard good things from Cummins in Altoona so anyone want reliable and faster service should go there.

Amazing customer service! & Honest about your vehicles issues and willing to get you scheduled for service as soon as possible although they can get busy. Very reliable and I’ll continue to go here for anything that needs to be fixed on my vehicle. Also Sarah, their receptionist has been very communicative during the process of getting my car repaired.
